A lot has changed in my life since last summer. I was constantly engaged with different projects and continuously on the move. Unfortunately, I did not manage to share the impressions of these experiences in real time, but I would now like to make up for that with a few throwbacks.
Today, I would like to share some impressions from a lecture I gave in Münstertal in October 2025. Located in the beautiful foothills near Freiburg, the baroque monastery of St. Trudpert can be found there. It was the institution that, in 1960, became the first to decide on the admission of Indian women. This decision would later become the blueprint for the chain migration that followed. The full story can be found in my book: Chapter 3.2 “The First Candidates for the Monastery of St. Trudpert in Münstertal in 1960 – The Blueprint for the Nirmala Process,” pp. 107–115.
At St. Trudpert, I had previously given lectures for the religious community in a closed setting. The very positive internal response soon spread, and the municipality of Münstertal approached me with the question of whether I would also be willing to give a public lecture. I gladly accepted the invitation. The audience included people from Münstertal itself, interested visitors from Freiburg, and guests from more distant towns across Baden. Several sisters from the monastery also attended.
Following the lecture, a personal exchange emerged during a shared gathering, where people spoke about their own memories, experiences, and family histories. The evening was accompanied by an exhibition that I have developed and designed over the past years as a visual extension of my lectures.
It was especially meaningful for me that Sr. Clementa was also present. She was one of the pioneer migrants who came in 1960. Her life story is also included in my book: Chapter 4.1.1 “Sr. Clementa,” pp. 282–288.
In this special setting, I had the opportunity to present her with a copy of Skilled Migration – Nursing Shortage – Charity — an incredibly moving moment for me.
